Our Story
Welcome to our little piece of the mountain! One of the few mom-and-pop shops left, Sierra Mountain Home has been a fixture in Amador County for more than 35 years. Affectionately known as “The Whirligig Place,” you will be hard pressed to find a local who does not know the owners, Rob and Linda Jurasek.
Rob and Linda’s journey began in 1988 when they left their Bay Area home in search of a new life. With two kids in tow and one on the way, life presented them with the exciting opportunity to expand an existing crafts shop. Throughout the years, local artists visited, adding many unique gifts, including chainsaw carvings. Over time, Rob learned the art of chainsaw carving and to this day you can often find him outside, creating new carvings.
Our combined woodworking skills have allowed us to grow this humble craft shop just off highway 88 into what you see today. Not only do we still have handmade crafts, but throughout the years we have expanded our gift shop to include jewelry, clothing, home décor, garden art, lighting and custom furniture, just to name a few. We are extremely proud of what we have developed within this community and invite you to join our extended family on our little piece of the mountain.
